Microsoft’s decision to stop the Windows update detailing the phone is a bad move

out of nowhere, Microsoft Windows Phone has won a lot of appeal and attention. At this time last year, no one is really talking about Windows Phone in bright light. Sure, it’s there, but not much to talk about when compared to the likes of Apple’s IOS or Google Android. But now that has changed, and the focus seems to be focused on Microsoft’s mobile operating system. There’s nothing wrong with it, Windows Phone can stand on their feet. However, the Redmond company has made a big mistake the first day, in my opinion, and I hope that does not result in incompatibilities.

last night, that Microsoft has decided to close the ” Where is my phone upgrade ” page. For those of you who do not have a Windows-based phone device, let me outline what this page, though the title should be pretty obvious. The existence of the page is intended to describe, so that both vague and the application when a certain phone in a special support or software updates specific region. I say it is both clear and detailed, because in some cases, the pages can be described in language that is ideal, just what you upgrade the carrier phase in the testing phase, and is a great way to know that your update “very soon”. It is also vague because although it was updated, not updated as quickly as possible could have. Personally, with the HTC Trophy that I have out there, “Where is updating my phone?” This page is actually behind the stage. I upgrade to Windows 7.5 Phone Mango when the page it says that Verizon tested.

This is just a small problem, not the least disturbance. The mind is what counts after all. And I honestly believe that. In a world where the update can mean the difference between customer loyalty and hatred, Microsoft always has a good position in this regard. The company has always explicit about the update, from the beginning, and I think it has something to do with the success of mobile operating systems. Since Microsoft is very easy what comes to software, even if there are lumps in the process of upgrading is usually not a wave of anger directed at Redmond.

But whether it will change, at least in one direction. While Microsoft is pretty clear about what will come in terms of updates, which is very clear that the closure of information “How to update my phone?” From the page, and I think that is very, very bad. The company said the information updates to their phones will be available on the official site Windows mobile phone, but did not go further than that. Instead, they say they will not outline specific upgrade information for mobile phones in different countries and operators. Therefore, if I interpret correctly, we can only expect Microsoft to say an update is “coming soon” for each specific device in the future, and maybe there will be no other information than that.

This is the wrong move, Microsoft. Very simple: I did the right thing before, to be as transparent as they are with updates to your device was released, and is now moving in the opposite direction. You know as well as everyone who continue to ear for the mobile consumer industry is serious about software updates. Almost as serious as the initial purchase of the phone. They do not want to have worries about software updates or patches after you buy your phone, especially if another platform to get updates easily. (And let’s face it, even the manufacturers are taking the Android platform update is more serious with Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0.) This is not the time to start making moves to the “off” about the updates, especially if it is not really the platform began to steal the attention of several other mobile operating system.
